During Cancer Treatment

A cancer diagnosis is only the beginning of the journey. Treatment often brings its own emotional and practical challenges, affecting not only the person receiving treatment but also those closest to them.

Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery and immunotherapy can create uncertainty, fatigue and unexpected changes to everyday life. It's common for people to experience a mix of hope, fear, frustration and exhaustion as treatment progresses.

You don't have to face this alone.

It's Normal to Feel Emotionally Drained

Many people are surprised by the emotional impact of treatment. There may be good days and difficult days, and it can feel as though life has become focused entirely on appointments, test results and waiting.

You may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety before scans or appointments

  • Fear of the unknown

  • Physical and emotional exhaustion

  • Difficulty coping with changes in your daily life

  • Feelings of sadness, anger or isolation

  • Concern about the impact on family and relationships

These are understandable responses to an exceptionally challenging time.

Finding Space to Breathe

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to step away from the medical world for a while and focus on you.

My role is to provide a calm, supportive environment where you can speak openly about what you're experiencing, explore your thoughts and feelings, and find practical ways to navigate the emotional challenges of treatment.

There is no expectation that you have to stay positive all the time. Whatever you're feeling is welcome.

How I Can Help

Support may include:

  • Managing anxiety during treatment

  • Coping with uncertainty

  • Adjusting to changes in work and family life

  • Supporting communication with loved ones

  • Building emotional resilience

  • Finding hope while acknowledging difficult emotions

Whether you're newly diagnosed, in the middle of treatment or supporting someone you love, counselling can provide support, perspective and a place where your experience is heard.

You Deserve Support
